CROSS PARTY SUPPORT FOR LACROSSE LAUNCH
Altrincham and Sale West MP Graham Brady has sponsored an event at the House of Commons to launch the Lacrosse Association’s bid to hold the 2017 Women’s World Cup in England. Lacrosse is a sport which is booming locally, with more and more youngsters getting involved. Both Timperley and Brooklands have very good clubs and are particularly successful in encouraging youngsters to take up the sport and to stay active. Graham Brady hosted the event in Portcullis House, Westminster and the Minister of Sport Hugh Robertson was at the launch.
Paul Goggins MP for Wythenshawe and Sale East, who has the Brooklands club in his constituency, attended the event to give his support.
The 2017 World Cup bid is in the hands of the Federation of International Lacrosse and a decision will be made in June 2012. The FIL Women’s World Lacrosse Cup 2017 will invite 30 nations to compete for the title, the biggest women’s lacrosse event the world has ever seen.
