Graham Brady wins victory over air taxes on children’s tickets
Altrincham and Sale West MP Graham Brady has welcomed the Chancellor’s announcement in the Autumn Statement that Air Passenger Duty on children’s tickets would be cut. George Osborne credited Graham Brady in his speech for his campaign to have the tax scrapped and announced:
From May 2015, Air Passenger Duty (APD) for children under 12 will be abolished and in the following year, APD for children under 16 will be scrapped altogether.
Responding to the announcement, Graham Brady said:
‘I welcome George Osborne’s decision to scrap APD on children’s tickets. It will have a significant impact on the cost of family holidays and I have pressed the Chancellor repeatedly on this matter. I am sure that today’s announcement will come as good news for families across the UK.’

Notes: APD adds £13 for each child on short haul destinations and up to £97 per child on long-haul destinations
