GRAHAM BRADY SEEKS HS2 MEETING AND CALLS FOR ‘IMAGINATIVE AND GENEROUS’ COMPENSATION
Altrincham and Sale West MP Graham Brady is tomeet with the Transport Secretary to discuss the details of the proposed route for HS2 and has called on the Government to ensure the compensation for those affected by the proposed route is ‘imaginative and generous.’
Speaking in the House of Commons following Transport Secretary Patrick McLoughlin’s announcement that the route of the high speed line to Manchester would include Manchester Airport on the edge of Mr Brady’s constituency, the Altrincham and Sale West MP welcomed * the proposed Manchester Airport station but stressed that the compensation for those affected should be imaginative and generous. Speaking later he said:
‘The Transport Secretary has made it clear that this is the first draft of the preferred route and he will take account of representations from the public about the detailed route and the compensation package for t hose whose properties or businesses will be affected. I will be meeting with Patrick McLoughlin and I would welcome hearing from residents or businesses with any concerns about the proposals.’
